A $cout executive is...

Well-paid. And honestly, I have no problem with that. But if we could just file trip permit applications over the web and/or email, I'd be much happier. The IT infrastructure in my Council is just new maturing into web 1.0, sort of.

In Ogden we can file tour permits by fax. Email can be less than secure, so I perhaps understand a reluctance to allow sending all of that sensitive info via email. But I can't understand why we can't file via the Internet using a secure website.

Our council's IT structure is also pretty poor. We have a better district IT setup, and it is an entirely volunteer thing.

I know our council exec. He's the CEO of a large organization. At $122K, he's probably not terribly overpaid. But I sometimes wonder if for that kind of pay we should expect a better run organization.

Reach Upward,

Good point about email. I don't usually think problems through in advance but I hope I would have paused before hitting the "send" button on an email containing my driver's license number and those of my closest friends in scouting.

We went to family wood badge this summer as offered by Trapper Trails Council and are going again this summer because my wife's in scouting now and our kids loved it. Wood Badge is their favorite city to camp in.

So your executives got that one right, as least from our point of view.
