These are the instructions we gave my wife's Grandma to check email on her HP desktop machine. These don't include turning the computer on, by the way. iPad instructions would look like:
- Touch "email"
- Touch the messages you want to read.
- If you want to reply, touch "reply"
Not too bad. And only $500. And we don't have to worry about everyone reconfiguring her machine when they fix the network.
